One Appointment Crowns in Albuquerque, NM

CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) is a new dental technology that allows patients to get a natural, fully functional ceramic dental crown on the same day of the dental appointment. CEREC technology allows dentists to create a 3D model of a patient's teeth and then design and fabricate a customized ceramic dental restoration in a single visit. This is unlike traditional dental crowns that require multiple visits to the dentist. CEREC dental crowns or One Appointment Crowns are made from a high-quality ceramic material that is matched to the color of your natural teeth. CEREC dental crowns restore damaged teeth to their original shape and size and provide a natural-looking restorative solution.

At Northtowne Dental, we use Sirona Primescan, which is a 3D dental imaging solution that allows our dentist to take detailed images of your teeth using non-ionizing radiation.

The Sirona Primescan will give you a clear picture of what is happening in your mouth, including areas of decay, cysts, tumors, and bone loss. These images can be transferred to our dentist’s computer screen in 3D, eliminating the need for messy impressions.

Benefits of One Appointment Crowns

One Appointment Crowns take less time to make than traditional dental crowns. CEREC dental crowns also use the latest in dental technology. That means CEREC dental crowns are more comfortable than traditional crowns. And, CEREC dental crowns require less preparation than a traditional dental crown.

CEREC dental crowns are incredibly strong, lasting an average of over 20 years. They are color-matched to your natural teeth, so no one will be able to tell that you have a dental crown. CEREC dental crowns are easy to maintain — just brush and floss like normal.

The One Appointment Crown Process Explained

The fabrication of lab-manufactured crowns usually needs to take a physical impression of the patient's teeth. For this, the patient has to bite down on gooey alginate, which can be messy and uncomfortable. This can also trouble patients who have a low gag reflex. On the other hand, One Appointment Crowns or CEREC dental crowns do not require this process. Instead, impressions are taken digitally using a scanner.

The CEREC dental restoration process is as follows: First, your tooth is prepared by removing any decay and shaping the tooth. This tooth preparation allows the crown to fit properly in your mouth. A digital impression of your tooth is then taken and fed into computer software. This impression is used as a basis to mill or cut out the exact replica of the patient's dentition. Once milled, the tooth is prepared for the crown. CEREC dental crowns are then placed on your tooth, adjusted as needed, and polished to look natural, all on the same day.

How Long Do One Appointment Crowns Last?

One Appointment Crowns or CEREC dental crowns can last anywhere from 10 to 25 years. However, this depends heavily on how well you take care of them. Dental crowns are strong, but they are not indestructible. If you brush and floss your teeth carefully, the crowns should last 15 years or more.
